"No, i'm not upset. Believe me I've lied to my family a lot of times, for most of my childhood so no i am not upset." he almost laughed at her next question. "Me? I'm Wilbur Robinson, I'm not scared of..." he stopped. "Alright, i'm a horrible liar, I'm scared to death. I mean...for the first time, besides with my family that someone understands me. And now..."

She almost wished he had lied. Hearing him say that, or rather... imagining what he would have said made Polka's stomach knot up again. It wasn't a pleasant feeling coupled with the dizziness she still felt lingering within her. Polka sniffled again and let her head droop a tiny bit. What was she supposed to say to something like that, anyway? She'd been as afraid as he was, maybe even more so, and now she had more of a reason to want to keep living. Life was beginning to feel a lot more cruel now that Polka had an opportunity to think about it.
"I'm so... so sorry." He probably was tired of hearing that by then, but she couldn't help herself. Apologizing was all she really could do at that point. "I was so afraid of e-even trying to... to interact with people here that I didn't th-think I would even find someone I really considered... different from everyone else. I thought this... wouldn't get in the way of it and th-that I could live life until... then. But now, I..." Polka couldn't continue. Throwing caution to the wind, Polka allowed herself to let her head rest against Wilbur's shoulder as fresh tears came to light.
"I wish I hadn't been given so little time. I don't want it to end."

Wilbur looked at her with a small smile. "I know, i'm sorry. I wish I was some kind of wizard or god. That way i could grant your wish. Dude, maybe there's a genie on this island. We can try to find one." he said hoping to get a smile or a laugh out of her. "Maybe Aphrodite can do something..."

Aphrodite? Could she really do something to either rid Polka or her illness or give her more time? The prospect seemed rather unlikely, but at the same time it did offer a little ray of hope. Maybe there was still something they could do. "D-Do you think so?" Polka asked. Polka knew nothing about their mysterious hostess, but now she was beginning to really wonder about her. What sort of things was the woman capable of? Could she use magic like Polka could? ...Okay, that was doubtful. No one on the island even knew that using magic was a side effect of what she was cursed with. But still... Polka did have to wonder. Maybe it was possible Aphrodite was a magician or something.

"Sure, she's the goddess of love right? Well, at least she's a goddess. So maybe she can help us!" Wilbur said excitedly. "After all, i bet you haven't tried asking a goddess for help! Keeping moving forward, that's what my dad says. And if not...well then ask a goddess!" he said

"A... a goddess?"
Polka hadn't ever thought that would be possible. Sure she'd known there was a movement based on some god or something called EZI back home, but the goddess Aphrodite? She'd only thought the name had been a coincidence when she'd learned their hostess was called that. If it was really true... that meant that she had the power to do something, right? She could grant a wish or something, right? All Polka really wanted was more time. Death was inevitable. Polka knew that. She just wanted to spend as long a time as possible with Wilbur before accepting fate's inevitable call to the great unknown. She... she felt she needed him, and she hadn't felt that way about anyone outside of family before.
"I hope you're right. I really hope Aphrodite can do something. Because..." Polka paused, her train of thought seeming to drift a little as she adjusted her position so she wasn't burying her face into the fabric of Wilbur's shoulder and instead was just letting her chin rest on top of it. She closed her eyes, almost as if she feared opening them would make her realize it was nothing more than a dream, and finally allowed herself to wrap her arms around Wilbur's waist. She didn't want the moment to end.
"Because... you're the first person I've felt was really and truly important to me. I don't want to lose the opportunity to be with you."
