Beyond the Sea

[Sinbad]

(ooc: Date is July 29th, open to Rapunzel and Sinbad for right now and then later on, i am sure more people can come in)

'Why am I here again?' Sinbad thought as he sat on the dock letting his legs dangle closely to the water. "Oh right, because you had to go and think of this as a challenge!" he yelled at his reflection. "You know you can't stand women, Why are you even here?!" he didn't understand one bit of it, but it was a women's fault he was here to begin with! He always knew that they were wicked creatures from the depths of Tarturas.

"Might as well enjoy it Sinbad, after all...the lady's rich, plenty of time for you to steal her stuff and be on your marry way."

[Rapunzel]

Rapunzel had just had a wonderful day. She'd been strolling on the beach for a few hours, and was, of course, barefoot. Now she wandered around the docks, the smell of salty seawater and fish very evident. A few fishing boats were tied up nearby, their contents being unloaded. Again, new sights and smells. The ocean was still marvelous to her, beautiful, and so.... big. Everything she wasn't used to. Emerald eyes took everything in, absorbed every detail. Her blonde hair trailed behind her, free from a braid this day. Walking on the creaking wood of the dock a voice became evident. Her head swiveled to match the words to their master and found a man. Talking to no one in particular. At the words of stealing Rapunzel's face got very stern.

"I take it you're talking to yourself... in third person... and stealing. I think those are two signs of insanity." The blonde mused coming to stand beside him, hands on hips looking down at the hoodlum. "And how would you expect to go on your merry way?" She added, bitterness evident in her tone. How could this man be on this island? Obviously up to no good. Why would he be invited? Rapunzel lightly shook her head. No need to start making assumptions. Maybe he was really a nice guy and just a little homesick and bitter? Leave it to her to find a silver lining.

[Sinbad]

"Aw geez." Sinbad muttered. 'You really need to stop talking to yourself all the time sinbad.' he thought as he stared at the girl in front of him. Damn, she was good looking. And whoa, that is a lot of hair! "Look here Blondie, i said those things to myself, not for others to hear, so just forget you heard any of it ok?" he replied.

[Rapunzel]

Rapunzel crossed her arms before her chest, quirking an eyebrow at the man. "If they were meant for you, wouldn't that mean they should be kept in your head?" She pipped up. Obviously bickering would get them nowhere. Si why fight? The blonde perked herself up a little with a quick gaze out to the ocean. "Anyways, I'm Rapunzel. You are?" she questioned, deciding on a friendlier approach. Relaxing slightly she let her arms go back to her sides and a tentative smile spread on her features.

He didn't seem to bad of a guy. At least she hoped so. So far everyone she'd met here was fairly nice. How could he be any different? He wouldn't be invited here if he had no heart. After all that was what the lock and key game of the island was all about.

[Sinbad]

"Name's Sinbad." The boy replied giving her a raised eyebrow. That was an interesting name. Rapunzel. Then again, Sinbad probably wasn't the greatest or common name where he was from. "Where you from?" He could at least try to be nice, after all that's what he ahd to do to get through this right. Be nice. That and all teh women would probably beat the crap out of him if he did anything wrong.

[Rapunzel]

"Oh you know, over the sea take a left and dive into the forest." The blonde replied evasively. Mother had always told her to keep her home a secret... Then again it wouldn't have been necessary as Rapunzel never would have left. Until recently that is. However she still felt the urge to evade any and all questions regarding her mother, her home, and her hair. It's the least she could do for her mother, after defying about everything else. Sinbad seemed nice o far. He wasn't a ruffian, or a thug, though she might classify him as a thief. Maybe a bit bitter. She saw no reason as to why he should be bitter, he ccepted the invitatio.

"So how about you? Where are you from? You don't look to happy to be here." Rapunzel replied, adding her own bombardment of questions as well as her captain obvious conclusion.

[Sinbad]

"I come from Greece." Sinbad replied. " Syracuse, if you want to be more accurate." The man didn't mind the questions, at least she wasn't hyper, okay, she was sort of hyper but not over the top like some girls would be. "And i suppose you could say, I've never been one to stay in one place for too long, but this lock and key gemetic seems like an interesting challenge."

[Rapunzel]

Rapunzel contemplated her response. She'd never heard of where Sinbad came from. Then again she'd never heard of much of the world out there. Thanks to the tower she was growing more detached from. She couldn't ever face going back. Not after coming to this island, meeting all these people and learning all of these new things. Emerald eyes looked to the horizon thoughtfully.

"Never heard of it," she replied thoughtfully. At his mention of this being a challenge she quirked an eyebrow. Didn't that sound like somebody she knew? Why indeed it did. "A challenge?" she asked, just to be sure. Better safe than sorry. Rapunzel plopped herself down on the dock beside Sinbad with a sort of finality. He wasn't getting rid of the girl with a million questions soon.

[Sinbad]

Sinbad's eyes went wide for a moment, the girl clearly had been locked up for most of her life. "Well, you're missing out." Sinbad replied. "Syracuse is a great place, i think you would like it. It's really beautiful." The brown haired thief turned his attention back to the ocean. "Yes, a challenge, I've never been able to ever actually fall in love before, so, i guess you could say its a challenge for me."

[Rapunzel]

Rapunzel shied away as the man widened his eyes. Not the reaction she'd expect. His explanation of Syracuse, however, made the blonde wondered why he'd leave. He seemed wistful and happy thinking of the place. Why leave? His intentions however seemed to be revealed. Maybe he didn't know it consciously but the other reason might have been the actual reason. The golden haired blonde debated this a moment. It seemed plausible. Very plausible. Just like maybe that was a subconscious reason of hers? Emerald eyes clouded with thought for a second before finally deciding to respond.

"Well I guess I haven't either. Then again I'd guess no has. Or else they wouldn't be here." She mused aloud. "And just because it's never happened isn't a challenge." She added in conclusion. No need to get too deep. She might suffer a rebuff. "So how 'bout that Syracuse huh?"

[Sinbad]

"You wanted to know why i left right?" Sinbad asked with a smirk. "It's kind of obvious you've never been and by the way I was talking about it, you are wondering why i left in the first place. Geez, women are so easy to read." he rolled his eyes. "I prefer to travel the world with my crew, this is really the first time I've ever stayed in one place for too long, its more of an adventure."

[Rapunzel]

Rapunzel's bottom lip moved out, and arms crossed over her abdomen indignantly. By the sounds of it he said 'women are so easy to read' as something of an insult. It would be something else entirely if he'd used a different tone. "You say it like an insult. Why haven't you stayed in one place? Nothing there to hold your interest?"

Her small bout of anger easily subsided as curiosity grew. This man was obviously a sailor. Been many places, seen many things, but never stayed? Odd. She'd imagine there would be some place he'd like to stay. Not some island he randomly decided to show up on.

[Sinbad]

"Take that as anyway you want blondie." Sinbad replied to Rapunzel. Now that he really looked at her, she was kind of cute. Not that he would say that out loud. "As for traveling around, I've been all over the world but i just can't stay in one place for too long."

[Rapunzel]

"Can't or won't or don't want to?" the blonde quizzed. Emerald eyes slightly widened in curiosity. Maybe it was can't. Maybe he'd gotten some death wish or bounty on his head? Then again maybe he won't? He might not like to get too attached to things. Or won't, he refuses to settle down? So many questions while this frustrating man continued to retort short little mind boggling things.

"You'd think after being all around the world you'd find something a bit better than this island. Not saying this place is terrible." The blond quickly amended. No need to offend anyone or to be picky. After all this was really the first place she'd ever been too.

[Sinbad]

"I guess it would be both." Sinbad replied, was he actually enjoying talking to this blonde girl? No it wasn't possible. He hated talking and spending time with women. What was wrong with him? Clearly this island was cursed. Very cursed. Making him, enjoy talking to a woman! "Oh no, this place isn't terrible, its probably the most beautiful place out here, but its just missing something. I'm not sure what."
