A Purrfect Day

[meowth]

(July 11th. Open to all cats. House cats, lions, tigers, etc. Couldn't resist using the title. xd)

Meowth walked along the forest as it seemed just like any other forest he'd traveled folowing the twerp and his friends while trying to snatch Pikachu and other Pokemon. Well aside from Jesse and James not being here. They'd gone off somewhere leaving a note saying they'd be back later. So he'd decided to explore the forest. Maybe it had some Pokemon he could capture to give to the boss. He began walking into the jungle not noticing someone come behind him until he heard a twig snap.

"Who's there?" asked Meowth.

He turned looking around seeing no one as he glanced down seeing he'd stepped on a twig. He began walking around again nervously wondering if it had been a smart idea to come here alone after all. At least with Jesse and James he had their Pokemon to help bail him out of trouble, and now he was alone. Or at least he hoped he was.

[Tigress]

"Don't you try and catch me,
Don't you try and catch me,
No! No! No! No!
I'm living on the edge of,
Living on the edge of the law, law, law, law..."

Kitty kept murmuring a steady mantra of "One, two, three and four..." as she turned, dipped and twirled along to the beat of the song playing on a small radio she had managed to find in an empty room, having propped it up on a tree stump just a few steps away. Though she liked the company of those within the Mansion, she found that she couldn't exactly continue her dance/exercise routine with a bunch of people staring at her, so she decided to find a quiet place to practice, despite that her dancing was mostly for fun anyway.

Kitty managed a small, breathless laugh as the song ended with the sound of a Gunshot and her clapping her paws at the same time before she dropped them back at her sides. She glanced back over to her mask, cloak, gloves and sword sitting beside the handheld device as well, just so she didn't lose them. "Well, let's see what else we've got hidden away in there.." She muttered, heading towards the Radio. Before she could lay a paw on it, another voice and the crack of a twig nearby made her ears perk up and she instantly reached for her blade, drawing it with a practiced flick of the wrist as she whirled around in the direction of the noise. Ears pressed against her head, eyes narrowed, she kept a firm grip on her weapon as she called out, "Who's there?". If there was one thing she didn't like, it was being snuck up on. Usually that was her job.

The brown lion cub felt a little out of place in the new terrain. It was lush, warm, and overall more welcoming than the Outlands he had grown accustomed to, but it didn't quite feel like home yet. Kovu couldn't openly complain about it, or rather... he didn't want to. He was stuck there until he could find somewhere else to stay. If he could find somewhere else, that is. Kovu wasn't confident in his abilities to find a place better than where he was at that moment. He was just about to start trekking further through the area when he heard a voice. It was a girl's voice, and not his mother's or Vitani's, so his initial reaction was to freeze.

"J-Just me. I'm just passing through." Kovu said. He took a couple of steps out into the open so that Kitty could see him better, and his ears pressed back against his head as a sheepish expression formed on his face. The little cub had no idea what kind of a cat he was dealing with, but she looked competent. Kovu didn't think he wanted to end up on her bad side any time soon.

Meowth began walking as he heard voices. He nervously walked towards them wondering who it was. He saw Kitty and Kovu and stared at them. He knew all the cat type Pokemon and they didn't look like any of them. He then saw one of them talk which made him doubt they were Pokemon. He hadn't met another Pokemon who could speak English. He approached them as he stepped on a twig which snapped. He stopped not sure if they were friendly or not. So he stood in place watching them from afar.

"Hello. I'm Meowth. I didn't know there were other cats here. You guys been here long?" said Meowth.

[Mega]

the large male lion was loungeing underneath the shade of a rather large elm tree "hmm what?" Mega's orange eyes creak open looking around before focusing on Meowth "were you talking to me?" Mega stands up and stretches his claws dig into the ground leaving small grooves his maw opens in a yawn showing off his sharp teeth.

[Tigress]

Kitty pinned her ears back and narrowed her eyes slightly before she sheathed her weapon after a moment of consideration, arms crossed at her chest and tail flicking idily from side to side as she looked Kovu over, though her expression shifted from caution to slight sympathy. A Lion cub, no doubt all alone out here. "Oh..I-it's alright, you just startled me. I'm not really used to being snuck up on. It's the other way around." She replied, putting on a warm smile. Before she could ask for a name, her ears picked up two more voices, one just a little farther away and deeper, no doubt male.

Kitty narrowed her eyes again. "..You can come closer, we're not gonna bite or anything." She replied, taking to leaning against the tree stump as her expression softened, looking from new face to new face with a budding curiosity. Granted, she had seen some pretty odd residents of the Mansion a day or so ago, and while she was suspicious, she was also relieved that she wasn't the only cat around. Well, at least, the other two were Lions. She didn't know what Meowth was. "And I haven't been here very long. Maybe a day or so, just came out here for a little Dance practice." She replied. "the name's Kitty, by the way. Kitty Softpaws."

[kovu]

"Oh... good." Kovu said when Kitty confirmed it was safe. He was able to relax a little knowing that Kitty wasn't going to try and hurt him, or anyone else for that matter. Part of him had thought that was the case, but after the encounter with Kiara's father he wanted to be cautious. But the small bipedal cat didn't seem to want to hurt him. In fact, as far as Kovu could tell she seemed like an okay gal. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad to hang out with her. The other cat, Meowth, he was uncertain of. He'd never seen a cat like him before, and he'd never heard of anything called a Pokemon before. As he stepped closer to Kitty and Meowth, he found himself tilting his head to the side and looking Meowth over carefully. He definitely isn't a lion. Neither is she. What kind of cats am I dealing with here? Kovu wondered.

"My name's Kovu. I've only been here a short while, so... I'm not really sure what to make of this place. Or this key and lock thing." Kovu sighed. It was proving to be quite the mystery, and it wasn't something he was enjoying. If he had someone his own age to hang out with, someone that would be willing to put up with him and whatever oddities he might have possessed, he might have been getting further along in his discovering what the situation was all about. So far, though, the youngest animals Kovu had seen had been spotted dogs and a German Shepherd pup. Not exactly great contenders for companions in his mind.

[meowth]

Meowth gasped seeing how big Mega was but he seemed friendly enough. They all did. He smiled as Kitty and Kovu introduced themselves. At least there were a few cats here. Even if they weren't what he was used to seeing. He nodded as Kovu mentioned the locks and keys.

"Yeah. I don't underestand it either. I'm just here to have fun. If I find the lock that matches great. But I won't be too disappointed if I don't find it." said Meowth.

He was just looking for friends and fun here. No official Team Rocket business, or searching for love. He'd already tried a few times and it never seemed to work out.

[Tigress]

As she heard Kovu mention locks and keys, feline paused to take a look at her own clipped on to her belt. Kitty gave a small shrug. "Yeah, I don't get it either. I get the whole 'finding love' thing, just not the jewelry." She replied as she decided to take a seat on the tree stump, resting her chin in one paw as she clicked the handheld radio nearby off with the other. While it was true Kitty originally did come here to find Love again, she wasn't going to do just that.

She looked over to Mega, then to Kovu and Meowth again. She then smiled slightly and gestured to Meowth with a paw. "So tell me, what kind of cat are you? And what's with the coin on your head, is it a good luck charm or something?" she asked, tone friendly and casual. Might as well get to know the new cats a bit more.

[Tai Lung]

Drawn to the voices resounding through the trees Tai Lung cautiously approached the group. He'd never had much interaction with other felines and was naturally curious about the different kinds he was seeing before him. Feeling a little self conscious he reassured himself by running a claw over the lock and key he'd taken to wearing around his neck on a simple red cord. The movement comforted him as well as brought a flash of pain as he remembered the Brother who had given him the cord. Oh, how he missed the simple life with them..... but there was no looking back now. He could only continue to move forward

Taking a deep breath he stepped out into the light, revealing himself for the first time.

[kovu]

"Wait. They expect us to find... love?" Kovu asked. The concept was nearly foreign to Kovu, as he had never really been on the receiving end of love before, so being told he was expected to find someone to love him was a bit of a shocking revelation. He shook his head slowly as the revelation sank in, still seeming to not believe it, before looking to all the cats present. So far, it seemed Kitty was the only female feline. Did that mean someone was going to have to fight for her affection? Kovu didn't want to do that. He didn't want to fight for anybody's affection, really. It was too hard of a concept for him to really deal with.

"We don't know anything about each other. How are we supposed to unlock anything if we don't know anything?" he asked. Just after the words left his mouth, his attention shifted to Tai Lung. Whoa... was all he could think as he looked the clouded leopard over. He was bigger than mother! Bigger than even Nuka! That was a frightening thought, he realized. He'd never seen anyone bigger than Nuka or Simba before in terms of males. Then he caught sight of Mega, and the little Outlander froze. A Pridelander? There? He didn't like that prospect. Kovu shrank back a bit and tried to make it look as though he wasn't trembling. He was supposed to be brave, not look like a coward just because there was a Pridelander before him! ...Too bad he was freaked out of his little mind.

"W-Who are you?"

[Tai Lung]

The Kung Fu Master looked down at the small kitten. He could feel the aura of fear from across the small distance that separated them. Was it aimed at him? He could tell that the young thing had never seen someone like him before. Then following his line of sight he saw the older lion just to the side of him....why would a youngling feel such fear toward one of his own species? Could this golden pelted lion be a threat?

Attempting to put him at ease a little he knelt down to make himself appear less....big, and held out a sheathed claw toward him, "I am called Tai Lung. It means "great dragon" in my language. I'm from China. And as for finding love," He ran his paw over the lock and key again, "I would assume the match to our locks and keys are somewhere on the island. We simply have to find them."

[Mega]

Mega chuckles softly at Meowth "don't worry i don't bite" he laughs again this time shaking his mane although that all came to a stop once he saw Kovu "a outlander?" the male's eyes narrowed as he looked at Kovu. Simba's words echoed in his mind as he rememberd what he had heard about the outlands but this was just a cub? "I-I'm Mega" he finally said after stareing at the cub "who are you?"

Both Tai Lung and Mega had introduced themselves. Tai Lung didn't seem nearly as threatening, at least not in Kovu's mind, so he could at least relax just a little around the clouded leopard. He was still wary of the older Pridelander, though. After his encounter with Simba, the only Pridelander Kovu could really trust was Kiara... and the chances of running into her were very slim. One thing he did find ironic was that he and Tai Lung seemed to have names that meant something significant. His own name seemed to reflect his adopted father.

"Kovu. My... my name's Kovu. It... it means 'scar' where I'm from." Kovu said. He didn't dare meet Mega's gaze, and so instead focused on Tai Lung. The leopard seemed to have a sort of aura of power about him. Kovu kind of liked that fact. It made him respect the older cat a little more than the others. He could only nod a little as Tai Lung shared his own thoughts on the locks and keys before bringing his paw to the little key around his neck.

"Whatever happens, I hope I can figure this stuff out soon. I'm just... not sure if I can find anyone who matches my key." Kovu admitted. He had suspicions, all of which pointed to the princess who he had shared a day of adventure with, but those suspicions were clouded quickly. Not likely, Kovu. She's probably not even here. he thought.

[meowth]

"So tell me, what kind of cat are you? And what's with the coin on your head, is it a good luck charm or something?" she asked, tone friendly and casual. Might as well get to know the new cats a bit more.

"I'm a Pokemon. I've always had it but it's never given me any kind of luck, good or bad. What about you? You good with that sword?" asked Meowth.

He paused seeing Mega was indeed friendly and smiled.

"I'm glad you're friendly. I'd rather not run into trouble on this vacation." said Meowth.

He glanced at Tai Lung at first nervous about him but he seemed alright.

"Nice to meet you Tai Lung. I'm Meowth. Well you guys are the only cats I've seen on the island so far. Maybe there's others coming later. But I say we just get to know each other. Romance can wait if it happens at all." said Meowth.
