(July...uh...10th? Is that good? For Rebecca and Berlioz to meet ;D After a page or so it can be open to others. )
"Sissy stuff!" Berlioz's catchphrase hung on his tongue for the 15th time that day. The kitten just wanted some time alone, away from sissy girls and love struck boys. It made him sick. He hated to hear about how everyone was supposed to find their true love and all that crap. It was gross and he hated it.
Trotting into the game room he flopped on the couch and looked at all the wonderful toys to play with. Grinning, he picked up a ball and started rolling it around.

(ooc: Are you a mind reader?? xD I was just thinking of starting something like this while I was getting my teeth cleaned!)
Rebecca, on the other paw, hadn't thought that the idea of finding love was all that terrible. The lock tucked away in her frilly pink collar was a reminder of what she had to do, and she really did want to figure out who had the key she needed. The idea just tickled her fancy. If she could find the key and unlock her lock, then she would be a very happy little puppy. For the time being, though, Rebecca wanted to relax in the game room. There had to be something she could play with to take her mind off of things.
As soon as she set paw in the game room, she caught sight of a black kitten playing with a ball. That did look fun... maybe he would let her play, too. Inspired by that thought, Rebecca made her way across the room and approached Berlioz. "Would ye mind if I play too, laddie?" Rebecca asked.

The sound of a Scottish laced voice reached his ears and the black kitten turned to face a pretty little dog with heart spots all over her. She was pretty...wow...Berlioz shook his head, shaking the thoughts from his mind. All covered in those sissy heart shaped spots with a frilly girly collar on; she looked like she was looking for love. Berlioz blinked his big blue eyes before staring down at the ball. Could girls even play ball? Marie never wanted to play ball when he and Toulouse would play.
But this girl seemed eager. He turned up his chin, a little smile of his face. "Uh huh," he said with a curt nod, "And my name's not Laddie, it's Berlioz. What's your name?" Mama had always taught him to be polite and it would have been impolite for him to not ask her name.

"Oh... my apologies. I dinae mean ta make it sound like I was tryin' ta call ye tha' on purpose." Rebecca said, politely bowing her head a little and briefly looking to her paws. Lucky hadn't minded when she'd called him that, nor had anyone else when she'd used lass or laddie before. It was just customary. Rebecca had to get used to the idea of such terminology being commonplace on the island. "But it is nice ta meet ye, Berlioz. Muh name is Rebecca." she said at last.
Little heart-spotted lass wondered where Berlioz was from for a moment. He didn't look like he would have been from DeVil Ville, certainly not with the accent he possessed, and she wasn't familiar with other parts of the world yet. The slightly scruffy fur and sort of well-to-do air about him gave the indication that perhaps he was from a family that had done well for themselves. She wondered what that would have been like, mainly because her own family seemed so different in comparison.
No, don't concentrate on that. Concentrate on play for now. Rebecca told herself. She lifted her head back up again and smiled a bit, indicating that she had gotten herself out of her thoughts. The time to play was upon them, after all. "Ready ta begin the game whenever ye are." she said.

Berlioz hesitated again before turning the corners of his mouth upwards into a smile. Tail swishing back and forth he pawed at the ball for a while before turning and kicking it towards Rebecca. She was a pretty little thing; he had to admit that. She had heart shaped spots, big blue eyes and a frilly pink collar. She seemed fine, he guess she was perfectly okay to play with. He hoped she knew how to play. Girls didn't always know how to play the right games. Marie never did.
(bah *facepalm* short post is short)

As the ball rolled toward Rebecca, she crouched down in a play bow and let her eyes narrow just a tad. Even though by all appearances she was just another girly girl, she was anything but that. Little heart-spotted lass could be a little spitfire when she wanted to be, and she definitely could keep up with the boys. This was disregarding the fact that she didn't really have many pups to play with when she was living in DeVil Ville, but she had been able to keep up with Lucky and his friends all right. Rebecca thought that maybe she'd be able to handle herself with Berlioz as well.
At last, the ball was in front of her. Rebecca batted at it with one of her front paws and sent it rolling back toward Berlioz. Not quite a game of fetch, but she was okay with it. She liked the new game. "This is rather fun! I dinae think I would get a chance ta play like this again." Rebecca said.

Berlioz grinned. Rebecca knew how to play! He wouldn't have to teach her! Youth gave a whoop and lept into the air as the ball came towards him. Now he just had to think of a way to make the game not grow stale. He patted his chin and then got an idea. He'd seen children play this game before. He trotted towards some of the toys and found what he was looking for, four plush toys that would act as goal posts. Trotting behind Rebecca, the noir kitten dropped two plushies and then trotted a ways over across from Rebecca and dropped the remaining plushies on the ground. Tail swishing back and forth he turned back to Becca's blue orbs.
"It's called Football," he said, placing his paw on the small ball, "I'm gonna try and kick it into your goal and you try and kick it into mine. Okay?" He leaned forward but before tossing the ball he paused, nose wrinkled.
"Why didn'tcha think you'd be able to play again, huh Rebecca?"

"Aye. I think I understand." Rebecca replied. Now things would be more interesting than just kicking the ball back and forth between them. Having an objective really made her want to try and show that she knew what she was doing, especially given the fact that she was sort of out of practice when it came to playing. "An' I thought I wouldn't get ta play again because... well, I was one of the only pups where I'm from. Actually, I ended up havin' ta leave home recently so... I haven't had many opportunities to play since." she explained. Obviously, she left out the explanation about DeVil Ville. Even with her frilly, Victorian-esque collar it did seem like a rather farfetched explanation.
"It's kind of silly, really. I was a carriage hound back home, so even then I didn't have much time ta play. But now that I'm here... I think I'm going ta enjoy muhself a lot more."

"Oh. That's um...cool." Berlioz didn't know what to say. How was she a puppy and didn't play? It made no sense to him. "That's not fair," he pouted, "You're a kid! You have to play. It promotes healthy brain development and such." He grinned, tongue poking out of his mouth as he tried to kick the ball past Rebecca and into her makeshift goal. Tail almost wagging, the kitten tripped forward and fell on his belly. He giggled.
"See? It's fun!" he said, "That's no fun that you were the only puppy where you were from! I had a cool brother and a stinky sister where I was from. But whatever, its cool. We're friends now, right?" He grinned, waiting for Rebecca to either block the shot or for him to score a goal.
