Rain Showers, May Flowers

[May]

"Yeah, I guess you could say that." May replied. The best part of all was that Rex actually didn't seem annoyed at the fact that she was talking about shopping. Most guys didn't care, or didn't want to listen, but Rex was different she could tell already.

She then turned as the waiter served their food. "Thank you." she replied and began eating her meal.

[Rex]

"Thanks." Rex said to the waiter before taking his time to eat. "Are you enjoying your time here? I mean besides the whole love finding thing, are you liking your stay here on the Island of Love?" he asked. It was pretty simple despite Rex hardly knowing any spanish to know that this was what the island was called.

[May]

"Yeah, it's so cool here." May said, half her attention on her meal, the rest on Rex, when it came to May and food, the girl loved it.

When it came to love, May wasn't to sure. Back when she was a newbie trainer, she did remember having feelings for Ash, but ever since she started growing more confident in her abilities, and especially after Ash and Brock left for Sinnoh, her feelings for the boy started to diminish.

Trying to focus on Rex's question, May smiled. "Yeah, the islands wonderful, the sights, the places, and the food." she said, taking a bite out of her sandwich. After chewing and swallowing, she looked at Rex. "What about you, are you having a good time?"

[Rex]

Rex had to think of that question for awhile. When it came to love, the boy really had no idea what he was doing, flirting on the other hand was what he was good at. "It's nice here, i will admit that. The mansion's huge, but i much rather prefer hanging around out here. Especially the beach, its really nice." he smiled. "But i am having a good time."

[May]

"That's always good to hear." May replied, then taking a sip of her drink. Like in every conversation, they had reached that rough, awkward spot, where they ran out of things to talk about. Feeling like that was her life story, May spoke up again.

"So, Rex where are you from?"

[Rex]

Thankful the girl had changed the subject, Rex was glad to talk about his home. "I was born in Mexico, with my brother, mother and father. They were scientists, unforunately i don't remember much about them since they died in an experiment explosion." Now that's where things got tricky. How was he going to explain the "hey i can make weapons out of my body" thing to her. "But due to some...interesting complications I live in New York." he smiled. "I can show you what i mean, if you promise not to freak out."

[May]

"Mexico? New York?" May asked, not sure where those places were, since she grew up in the pokemon universe, they ceased to exist in her mind, till now. "I'm sorry, but I've never heard of those places." she said sheepishly, feeling a bit embarrassed at the statement. Despite her not knowing what those places where, she was paying attention.

"Wow, I'm sorry to here about your parents." May told Rex, looking down at her food while she said it, trying to avoid awkwardness. But she looked up at the male. She gave a small laugh. "Don't worry I promise I won't freak out, just tell me about your 'interesting' complications." she said with honest eyes.

[Rex]

He was sure that most people from this island had never even heard of the places he was talking about but he didn't really mind them not knowing. "Alright," he said. "I can turn any part of my body into a weapon. It's a long story but the just of it is, that's what i can do and I work for a company called Providence that stops monsters from wrecking havoc all over the world." he shrugged. "What about you?"

[May]

May gave a puzzled look as Rex mentioned that Rex could turn part of his body into a weapon. "What?" she exclaimed, more confused than freaked out. How is that possible? She knew that there was some strange and interesting technology, but never anything like that.

But before she could ask anymore, Rex had asked her where she was from. "Well, I'm from Hoenn, more specifically Petalburg city. There I started my pokemon journey with my starter Torchic, I traveled around with my new friends, Ash and Brock, along with my little brother, Max. We traveled around, you know making new friends, and catching new pokemon and what not." she continued. "But we eventually went our seperate ways, and I traveled through Kanto, Johto and Sinnoh, winning all sorts of ribbons and catching new pokemon..."

While May was rambling, she was unaware that Rex wasn't from her pokemon world.

[Rex]

Rex blinked back suprrise at the mention of pokemon. What in the world was a pokemon? Clearly it wasn't an evo. He doubted May even knew what those were. "Sounds like you've had quite the exciting life so far, i guess that means both of us are here for a vacation huh?" he smiled a tiny smile before asking. "So, what exactly is a pokemon?" the idea of creatures other than Evos being out there was really exciting.

[May]

May was dumbfounded when Rex asked what was a pokemon was. So, it was true that they were from completely different worlds. She didn't know what Providence was, and he didn't know about pokemon. "I guess that sounds fair." she thought, before continuing.

"Well, a pokemon is like a pet that people capture and train to battle." she started off. "People who train and capture pokemon are called pokemon trainers, but there all sorts of different trainers like gym leaders and coordinators like me. We travel throughout the pokemon world, capturing and training pokemon so that they can become stronger. But, we also love and care for pokemon like family, well most of us do at least." she finished, thinking about Team Rocket, and other horrid excuses for trainers who only wanted powerful pokemon and didn't care about their well-being.

She then looked back up at Rex. "Would you want to see one?"

[Rex]

Now that was fasinating. Rex had never heard of anything like that before, well he kind of understood it but the idea of it was realy quite interesting. When she asked if he wanted to see one, he nodded his head with excitement. Almost like a little kid would on christmas. "Yes, i mean if you don't mind."

[May]

May laughed a little at Rex's excitement. "Okay then." She pulled out a pokeball and clicked the middle of it to enlarge it. "Okay, go Blaziken!" she said and gently tossed the ball in the air.

While in midair, the pokeball opened up and something popped out of it and took form. The form of a tall, humanoid chicken pokemon. "Blaziken!" It exclaimed after taking form.

May then looked back at the Latino boy. "Well, what do you think?"

[Rex]

Rex'x eyes were wide as saucers. "Dude, that's sick. I mean that's really neat." he said standing up and looking at the pokemon from all sides. "This makes my powers look like a hunk of metal, and you have more of them?" he asked. Now he really was glad he chose to talk to May. Not only because hse was cute, but he got to learn about Pokemon.

[May]

"Of course, I do. Most trainers are allowed to carry six at a time." she said, loving Rex's reaction. "So that's the reaction of someone seeing a pokemon for the first time." she thought to herself.

The girl then looked at Blazkien who looked like he was getting irritated by Rex studying it like a freak. "Don't worry Blaziken, he's a a friend of mine." May said. Could she consider Rex a friend? She just met him, and to most that would be to early to consider a friendship. But they were hitting it off, and that's how all friendships start.

"So, you want to see the rest of my team, you got it."she said, pulling out a few more pokeballs and tossing them in the air. "Alright, come out guys." she said. Then popped out, a Beautyfly, Venusaur, Wartortle and Glaceon.

"That's most of my team, the rest of my team is back at home." she said, wondering about Skitty, she knew she was in her current party, but she dissapeared when May arrived on the island. "Skitty must've wanted a vacation too." she thought.
